Contact Cultures puts the latest multi-media technology into the hands of local communities of all ages to develop their ideas visually. We can film, edit and output to video tape or DVD. Some recent examples of work we have undertaken:
SICUL
Introduction to Cultures DVDs for the Society for Intercultural Understanding Leicester, SICUL:
This was a particularly challenging project to help develop three cultural education packs for our client, SICUL a voluntary organisation promoting intercultural activity in Leicestershire.
SICUL received Neighbourhood Renewal Funding to develop the education packs. The original project was for the packs to be packaged as booklets. But while undertaking some research SICUL decided that this was not relevant for their audience and looked to Contact Cultures to help them develop these packs in an innovative new media ie DVDs.
The funding did not really allow for this, but Contact Cultures took up the challenge. It was decided that two education packs would be made as DVDs while the third would be in a booklet form as long as SICUL provided at least 50% of the material. SICUL were confident that this would not be a problem.
As is the case this was a huge understatement. SICUL's chair and secretary are very busy people and it was left to us at Contact Cultures to bring this element of the project together. We have to thank Tim Haq who helped SICUL put together the project and SICUL's project officer Bill Law. They pulled out all the stops and encouraged and cajoled people to talk about their cultures.
Environ
Set up by environmental charity Environ more than four years ago, Braunstone GardenCare - an Intermediate Labour Market based on the social enterprise model - has gone from strength to strength.
When Braunstone GardenCare looked to become an independent social enterprise to continue the good work they have been doing in Braunstone they looked to Contact Cultures to help them showcase their project to the world. The result was Braunstone GardenCare an Intermediate Labour Market in Braunstone, leicester DVD.
